Semiautomatic pistol, 9mm, M9 Beretta
- [Picture] The M9 Beretta
pistol is the standard Army sidearm. It replaced the
.45 caliber M1911A1
pistol. It is basically a Beretta
92F pistol and fires the 9mm NATO round. It's a semiautomatic,
double-action pistol. The M9 is carried by crew-served
weapon crewmen and others.
The M9 pistol has a 15-round magazine, and may be fired
without a magazine inserted. This weapon can have the hammer
lowered from the cocked, "ready to fire," position
to the uncocked position without activating the trigger
by placing the thumb safety on the "on" position.

Machine Gun, Grenade, 40mm, MK19 - [Picture]
A self-powered, air-cooled, belt-fed, blowback operated
weapon, the MK19 is designed to deliver accurate, intense,
and decisive firepower against enemy personnel and lightly
armored vehicles. It is used in offensive and defensive
operations and will be the primary suppressive weapon for
combat support and combat service support units. The MK19
is mounted on the HMMWV, M113 FOV, 5-ton trucks, and selected
M88A1 recovery vehicles. The MK19 was originally developed
to provide the U.S. Navy with an effective Riverine patrol
weapon in Vietnam. A Product Improvement Program (PIP) was
initiated in the late 1970s resulting in the MK19 Mod3.
M16A2 Rifle - [Picture]
Alightweight, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed, shoulder-
or hip-fired weapon designed for either automatic fire (3-round
bursts) or semi-automatic fire through the use of a selector
lever. An improved version of the M16A1 rifle it is replacing,
the M16A2 incorporates improvements in sight, pistol grip,
stock, and overall combat effectiveness. Accuracy is improved
by incorporating an improved muzzle compensator, three-round
burst control, and a heavier barrel, which can use the M855
improved NATO Standard SS 109 type 5.56mm ammunition, which
is also fired by the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon System
(SAWS).
M16A4 Rifle - A standard M16A2 Rifle
with a flat top upper receiver and detachable carrying handle.
The flat top upper receiver has an integral rail that will
be utilized (when the carrying handle is removed) to mount
optical devices to the weapon. The M16A4 Rifle in combination
with the M5 Rail Adapter forms the Modular Weapon System
(rifle version) which provide soldiers the flexibility to
configure their weapons with those accessories required
to fulfill an assigned mission. There are no differences
between the internal dimensions of the M16A2 Rifle and the
M16A4 Rifle.
M4A1 Carbine - The M4 is a lightweight,
gas operated, air cooled, magazine fed, selective rate,
shoulder fired weapon with a collapsible stock. A shortened
variant of the M16A2 rifle, the M4 provides the individual
soldier operating in close quarters the capability to engage
targets at extended range with accurate, lethal fire. The
M4 Carbine achieves over 80% commonality with the M16A2
Rifle and will replace all M3 .45 cal. submachine guns and
selected M9 pistols and M16 series rifle.
M240B 7.62mm Machine Gun - [Picture]
The M240B 7.62mm medium machine gun is a replacement for
the M60 series machine guns. Used as a fixed machine gun,
the M240 also replaced the M73/M219 7.62mm and the M85 .50
cal. tank machine guns. The M240B is a ground mounted flexible
variant of the M240/M240C/M240E1 coaxial/pintle mounted
machine gun used on M2/M3 series Bradley Fighting Vehicles,
the M1 series Abrams Main Battle Tank, and the U.S. Marine
Corps LAV-series of Light Armored Vehicles. While possessing
many of the same basic characteristics as the M60 medium
machine gun, the durability of the M240 system results in
superior reliability and maintainability when compared to
the M60. A similar version of the M240, the M240G, is the
standard U.S. Marine Corps medium machine gun. The M240
has a firing rate of 700-1000 spm.
M249 Squad Automatic Weapon System (SAWS), 5.56mm
Machine Gun - [Picture]
The M249 SAWS light machine gun is gas-operated, magazine
or disintegrating metallic link-belt fed, individually portable
machine gun capable of delivering a large volume of effective
fire to support infantry squad operations. The M249 fires
the 5 improved NATO Standard SS 109 type 5.56mm ammunition.
The M249 replaces the two automatic M16A1 rifles in the
rifle squad on a one-for-one basis in all infantry type
units and in other units requiring high firepower. The M249
filled the void created by the retirement of the M1918A2
Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) during the 1950s because
interim automatic weapons (M14 series/M16A1 rifles) had
failed as viable "base of fire" weapons.
M24 Sniper's Weapon System (SWS) - [Picture]
- The M24 is the same basic weapon known by the
USMC as the M40A1. The M24 uses the Remington 700 action.
The stock is made of a composite of Kevlar, graphite
and fibreglass bound together with epoxy resins, and
features an aluminium bedding block and adjustable butt
plate. A detachable Harris bipod can be attached
to the stocks fore-end.
